The council of Alhaurin el Grande are seeking worth 400,000 euros for the works concerning Calle Convento and Avenida Gerald Brenan.
The aid has been requested from the Councillor of Commerce, Turism and Sport from the Junta de Andalucía.
The council of Alhaurin el Grande has asked the Councillor of Commerce, Turism and Sport from the Junta de Andalucía for grants for various projects which will be undertaken shortly in different municipalities.
These include the application for a grant for tourist infrastructure for the beautification of the historic quarters, notably the proposed works for Calle Convento, whose budget is 347,449 euros, of which the Councillor would provide 60% (208,469 €) and the council the remaining 40% (138,979 €). This is a project that is included within the Integrated Plan for Revitalization of the Historic Center of Alhaurin el Grande. In recent years major projects like the complete renovation of the Plazas Baja, Alta, Nueva, San Sebastián and Convento, with the calles Real, Cruz, Puerta de la Villa, Molinos de Arriba, and Calle Convento have been undertaken and have been improved by these works.
The Consistory has also asked the autonomous institution for aid for the proposed proyecto de arreglo del Tramo Oeste de la Avenida de Gerald Brenan, improving the infrastructure and removal of architectural barriers and steel construction improving access to Centro Comercial Abierto, which relates to the stretch that runs from calle Cilla until Plaza de la Legión. This is a project whose budget is 256,663 euros, of which the Board would provide 75% (192,497 €) and the council the remaining 25% (64,165 €).
The implementation of this project will develop the Commercial Urban Development Programme which the Consistory has been implementing in recent years.
The Mayor, Juan Martín stated that "if these subsidies are granted, these works would be launched next summer, with an implementation period of four months each; the final amount of the work will exceed budget so the difference will be borne 100% by the municipality, "explained the mayor who also has stressed that" these are two very important both streets, and the the council intends to renew and above all modernise their infrastructure, since they both very important places in the municipality. "
