The council requests the improvement of signage on the roads of the municipality.
The Consistory has requested a report to the Directorate General of Highways on the current status of the signalling of the roads in the municipality.
The Councillor for the pedestrianisation of Villafranco del Guadalhorce, Micaela Naranjo, presented at the last Municipal Plenary session a motion for the improvement of the signposting of the roads in the north zone of the municipal area, in particular the Edil explained that "currently is being implemented the Autovía del Arco, A-357, kilometres 53-48 direction Campillos. In sections opened to vehicular traffic the following signals are observed:
- In the kilometric point 52: Cártama Coín, and successively for sections in the route up to the new rotunda in construction at the level crossing Cártama, Alhaurín el Grande, Coín, does not appear an indication of the direction of Alhaurín el Grande.
- At the height of the service station San Miguel there is a vertical signal indicating, among others, towards Villafranco Guadalhorce, which leads to a 4 km long service road, with strong ballast and in a sorry state because the rains, plus a road full of bends and poor access to pedestrians.
- At the turn of the 48 kilometre point, the exit towards Villafranco Guadalhorce it is observed on the highway a sign indicating direction Campillos and another empty panel. Only when it has been taken this diversion, and under a bridge, an indication appears to Villafranco Guadalhorce, with a dramatically narrow access, dangerous and with a disc showing prohibited passage; we believe that Alhaurín el Grande is a town of significant outstanding in the province by size, population size and density of vehicular traffic, etc. and its direction should therefore be marked from the highway.
The Edil added that "also, in the stretch of road that extends from the town of Cartama to Coín (A-7059) it can observed the following shortcomings:
- At the junction at the height of Sierra Gorda (Alhaurín el Grande-Villafranco), north bound traffic, only two posts are clamping the signal, so it follows that the existing was torn by wind and vehicles do not find any indication upon arrival at this junction.
- At the roundabout junction of up to the hight of the Platero Inn, regarding both directions to Coín and Cartama, Alhaurín el Grande do not appear to in the direction of the road Alhaurín-Coin (A-444) ".
For all these reasons, the councillor proposed to the House requesting to the competent administrations:
- Mark Alhaurín el Grande at the height of the highway from Cártama
- Eliminate indication of Villafranco Guadalhorce at the service station in San Miguel and place the sign on the white panel of at kilometre 48 of the highway
- Broaden the access to pedestrians , which currently has characteristics of a provisional lane while works are executed, and that by its configuration poses a serious risk to all users.
- Install signal indicating Coín, Cártama-Malaga, Villafranco Guadalhorce, at the junction of Sierra Gorda north bound traffic.
- Indicate Alhaurin el Grande on signs of the A-7059 at its junction with the A-355 (at the hight of the Platero Inn).
The council fully and unanimously approved the proposal of Councillor for Villafranco Guadalhorce, adding " to ask the Provincial Directorate of Roads a report on the overall situation of signs throughout the municipality of Alhaurín el Grande."
In this regard, it is worth noting that the Council member has reported that "following this agreement, last week a meeting was held with the Provincial Director of Highways, for Regional Government of Andalusia, where I had the opportunity to convey the terms of the agreement, so that the Board whenever possible will remedy these deficiencies in the signalling of access roads to town and district "
