Alhaurín el Grande Council asks the Provincial Council for Málaga for a comprehensive and definitive settlement of the road between Alhaurín and Cártama (MA-3304).
The Town Hall claims also that they complete the current work pending in the area of La Trocha and provide solutions to existing problems in the area.
Alhaurín el Grande Council has approved a proposal by Councillor for Urban Affairs, Gregorio Guerra, to ask the Provincial Council of Malaga for a comprehensive and definitive settlement of the road between Cártama and Alhaurín el Grande (MA-3304).
The Councillor reported that "since 2001 there have been innumerable discussions and negotiations conducted by the Mayor, Juan Martín Serón, with the Provincial Council of Malaga to try and improve the Alhaurín to Cártama road throughout its route and particularly in the stretch known as las curvas de la Trocha. In the 21st century it is intolerable that some of our provincial infrastructures can be described as 3rd World. Alhaurín el Grande has been marginalised for many years on investments in quality infrastructure, limiting the various administrations, and in particular the Provincial Council of Málaga has not solved important existing deficiencies.“ The Councillor for Town Planning added that "the road to Cártama is the main route for our town with Malaga and the rest of Andalusia and is used by hundreds of suffering Alhaurinos daily."
Gregorio Guerra stated "the latest works carried out by the Provincial Council in the stretch of La Trocha have been implemented extremely slow and have been both annoying and inconvenient for users (potholes, detours, interim impassable, etc.). However, in any case, these works have not resolved the general problem with the road and makes us wonder how many years will it take before Alhaurinos will be able to have an effective communication channel. Despite numerous complaints to this council the Provincial Council has taken little remedial action”
Faced with this situation, the Councillor proposed “to ask the Provincial Council for a definitive statement and an adjustment to the MA-3304 between Alhaurín Grande and Cártama; and in addition to complete the work near La Trocha; creation of an access to rural roads affected at Carraholo, Cañada del Patronato y Los Javieles, with the installation of a centre lane to decrease the danger that exists now because of poor visibility; work to prevent landslips and adequate signage. "
The proposal was approved by an absolute majority and the Mayor, Juan Martin, advised "in January we held a meeting with the Director General of Highways, whereby the Ministry pledged to initiate a draft comprehensive settlement for this road as well as the construction of a by-pass to avoid passing through the town of Cártama. I hope that both institutions, the Provincial Counsel and ourselves, can reach agreement to fix one of the main channels of communication between Alhaurín el Grande and Malaga. "
