El Corbertizo
Alhaurin el Grande.
Review by MO.
El Corbertizo is in the square by the church in town in Alhaurin el Grande We have been a few times, sat outside and watched lots of weddings at the church whilst having a drink and Tapas, of which there is a very good selection and it is gorgeous.
We decided to go this evening we would try something from the main menu.
For starters I had Scallops in Sauce and my husband had the Deep fried Camembert, both were served with warm baguette and delicious.
For the main meal I had Rosada of the house which was absolutely gorgeous, a generous portion of fish in sauce with potatoes and mixed vegetables - absolutely delicious, first class. My husband had the Chicken marinated in Garlic, again a very generous portion of chicken with chips and mixed vegetbles, again delicious.
We both had deserts from the ice cream menu.
We both had Irish Coffee to finish.
The bill came to 50 euro exactly, that included drinks we had before and during the meal.
All in all it was excellent value for money. The atmosphere was really nice, sat outside the church watching everything that was going on, the staff are extremely helpful, very friendly and we will definately be going back to sample other dishes from the menu.

Directions: From Coin come along the A404 towards Alhaurin el Grande. Go past Restaurante Miralmonte on your right, then you bear right, go down a dip and come up the other side. As you start to go down again take the first turning on your left (dirt track). Follow this road to the mustard-coloured wall and turn in.
From Alhaurin come to the Los Chavos roundabout and take the turning for Coin.Follow this road for about 500 metres and take the second turning on right (dirt track) and follow to the mustard-coloured wall and turn in.
This has to be one of my favourites (if not my favourite) restaurants. Juan and his staff are so helpful and welcoming. It´s a relaxed atmosphere but you can still dress up! We ate there the other night - two starters, two main, bottle of wine, one vodka and tonic and 2 beers. Came to around 50 euros. Admittedly we´ve spent a lot more but it depends on what you have.
My favourite starter is Cogollos de Lechuga and my husbands´ Serano. The stuffed mushrooms and paté are great too. My husband likes the Stroganoff but any of the mains in my book are great. Just depends on what you fancy - fish or meat. Juan will always recommend a wine if you ask.
Sometimes, if you´re lucky. there´s a horse being put through it´s paces. Fascinating to watch. A real winner!

Not been here for 2 years the place was very good. We had the "AUTUMN WINTER SET MENU"
2 courses - 13.95 euro
3 courses - 16.95 euro
The starters were smoked haddock fish cakes and homemade chicken liver pate. These came with hot roll and very hard butter out of the fridge.
For the mains we had chicken curry and jerk spiced pumpkin pie. They were very good and the pie was quite spicy.
The meals came to 27.50 euro. We also had a very good house red wine for 12 euro. The bread came to about 2 euro and the 2 bottles of agua con gas came to 2.40 euro.
They also do AN EVENING OF ASIAN MEALS go to www.santiagorestaurant.es for more details.

3 of us went on the 15/07.07 and very good as usual. We had 3 very good starters. The Morcilla Burgos (Black Pudding) was very good. We all had beef steaks (95% excellent -5% gristle) with a port and cranberry sauce. Maybe they expected the sauce to cover it. We had very good bottle of wine. It all came to 76 euro including tip.
We had :
Tomato al Ajo
1 x Ensalada Rusa
1 x Morcilla Burgos
2 x Solomillo Ternera
1 x Pan
1 x Solomillo Terneta Opo
1 Vina del Vero Chardon
1 *** Champiñones
