The park "El Palomar will have a reservoir to irrigate the entire Ferial Centre.

This is a tank that collects groundwater flow in a natural way in the basement of the park itself at a very little depth.

The councillor for the Environment, Diego Navas has informed of the status of works of Palomar Park, located near to the Ferial Centre, in a level plot of irregular shape and limited by Avenida Adolfo Suarez (main entrance to the Ferial Centre for carretera de Cártama) and Calle "Huerta Los Patos" (street entrance to the Mercadona parking). The works, whose budget is 218,000 euros, are at 80% implementation, which will be completed in a few weeks.

This new green area is 1,900 m2, of which more than half are for gardens. To take advantage of the gap between the two streets, has been built two platforms: one for locating games for children up to 6 years and the other for children who exceed this age, with access tailored for the disabled, street lighting and street furniture, all surrounded by extensive gardens, a large number of palms and rubber plants transplanted from other areas of the municipality. It also has special lighting to enhance evening trees making up the green zone.

The edil of Environment explained that "this park is unique in possessing an irrigation system innovation. When the work started, technicians noted that the sub-terrain groundwater was at very little depth, which led to the construction of a reservoir to store these waters. After a long study, it appears that the potential flow is sufficient to supply irrigation of the park and around the Ferial Centre, we have undertaken all the work to take advantage of the water flowing into the zone naturally at a very little depth, "said the edil, who added that the whole irrigation system will be automatic, as much as possible to optimize water resources.

The councillor for the Environment has stressed that "the new park joins green areas undertaken by this government team, such as the Parque de la Libertad, Parque Huertas Altas and Parque Arquilla del Agua, among others, and they pose a significant investment to improve the quality of life of citizens, in this case in an area such as the emerging Ferial Centre and its surroundings, where we have managed to develop the most important green area of the municipality."
