The council of Alhaurin el Grande invests 1.8 billion in new public spaces within the Feria Ground.

More than 2,000 people attended the inauguration of the Plaza de Rando, Parque de “el Palomar”, streets “Cuesta de Marzo”, Arroyo de la Villa and González Madrid and the Recinto Ferial (Feria Ground).

More than 2,000 residents attended yesterday Sunday 18 May, the opening ceremony of several public areas within the Feria Ground.

The Mayor, Juan Martín, leading the entourage consisting of municipal representatives, as well as members of groups, associations, guilds and residents in general, conducted a tour that began in the “Plaza de Rando”
and the expansion of Carretera de Cártama , "some jobs have improved access to the area of the zona de la Plaza del Juzgado and Edificio de Asuntos Sociales, as well as facilitate pedestrian traffic in one of the most popular commercial areas of town," according to the Councillor of Works, Josefa Brescia, who along with the Mayor and the family Rando, dedicated the nameplates for this new equipment.

The tour continued until Park “El Palomar” a new recreational area located at the entrance to the Recinto Ferial to the Avenida Adolfo Suarez, which has an area of about 2,500 m2, with landscaping and two playgrounds, "a park located in a strategic area with a functional design which is modern and innovative", explained the Councillor of the Environment, Diego Navas, who recalled that "a underground reservoir has been created which will allow the irrigation of much of the Feria Ground." The Mayor dedicated the commemorative plaque at an emotional event where doves were released accompanied by the the family Rodriguez and the company who worked on the project has executed works “Grupo Salcar”.

The entourage continued their journey through the main street of the Feria Ground visit the improvements made for the Feria 2008 including, "over 2,000 m2 for new gardens, new esplanades, more attractions and also concerning a projection for enlargement next year" this was all explained by the first Deputy Mayor Toñi Ledesma.


The tour continued by the new venue called “Cuesta de Marzo”, as well as two streets that join to the feria ground and the streets calles Arroyo de la Villa and Gonzalez Madrid. "This new urbanisation within the area of the feria ground Trade Fair which connects it with the zona de el Bajondillo and the historic center" stated the Councillor for Urbanisation Gregorio Guerra. The González Madrid family accompanied the Mayor to the opening of the street that bears their his name, in tribute to the road's former owners.


The tour ended in one of the booths that are already prepared for the fair, where Mayor Juan Martín addressed the attendees to thank them you all for their attendance and participation in this event and the collaboration of all persons who have made the creation of these new public facilities possible including the 1.8 million euros municipal investment which have created "spaces for recreation, coexistence, solidarity and hope, joining many others made in recent years.""We continue with our firm commitment to green spaces and new public facilities which we can be very proud of, both for their quantity and quality, without forgetting our extensive and modern Feria Ground, a magnificent park for a large Feria , Which begins on May 21, to which we invite all to participate and enjoy with us, "said the Mayor.
