The area of Environment is applying for funding for an environmental education campaign.

This campaign would join a number of other initiatives undertaken by the Department of Environment, affecting areas such as collection or saving water.

The Department of Environment of the council of Alhaurín el Grande has asked the Ministry of Environment and specifically to the Directorate General for Environmental Education and Sustainability, a grant of 23,800 euros to develop a project for environmental education activities, called "education and environmental awareness." This is a series of actions aimed at professional associations, business, youth of school-age and population in general, ranging from education and training, up to information, sensitization and awareness. These activities include workshops aimed at specific technical and business and information campaigns based on educational brochures and videos, which are supplemented by various briefings and workshops.

The councillor for the Environment, Diego Navas, explained that since "the area of environment we have been working for some time in various areas in which we intend to now deepen mainly towards environmental awareness in the youngest sectors  and companies and their workers " In this sense the Edil has noted that "in terms of collection and recycling there have been placed in the municipal buildings large number of containers with a specific role to facilitate the deposit of this waste, as well as containers for batteries, which will be available in municipal buildings and colleges, so that users do not have to move to cleaner points, which also will extend its schedule soon. "

The Edil added that "we are placing special emphasis on selective waste separation, so that in different municipalities can be found containers with specific ecological islands for organic waste, glass, paper and packaging, all this is complemented with clean points, where you can deposit the remaining wastes and the collection of home furnishings also continue with our campaign to save water and respect for the parks and gardens, where we must continue to insist and requesting the cooperation of all citizens; we are also preparing a campaign of street cleaning to influence the need to exercise a civic behaviour on our streets, squares and parks, to keep them cleaner with a very simple gesture, to throw trash in to the many bins that are scattered throughout the village Because we have increased their numbers from 400 by another 100 in recent years. "
