The City Council is organizing a course for ‘Carers’.
This is an initiative of the area of Social Welfare whose objective is to help ‘dependent people’ improve their quality of life.
For several weeks, the Department of Social Welfare for Alhaurin el Grande has been developing a course aimed at the carers of dependents (i.e. people who cannot adequately fend for themselves) which aims to help and support the carers in the work they perform daily.
Every Tuesday and for two hours a group of about a dozen women will participate in a series of classes where they will receive firsthand knowledge of psychology, yoga, breathing patterns and relaxation, and theoretical knowledge of food and general hygiene. The primary objective being to allow the carers to relax and forget their concerns for at least for a few hours and to teach them new or to reinforce existing skills.
“In this sense it is the essential is that the carers are conscious of the importance of taking care of themselves which is why the course is based not only on the universal principles of health, but also in strengthening human and personal relationships" explained the Councillor for Social Welfare, Francisca Bonilla, who added that " this is the first time since the council is offering such a course as novel as this, whose outcome is very positive because it is able to improve the standard of life of the participants; for that reason we are thinking about repeating the experience with specific groups” mainly because it is getting better standard of living of the participants, which is why we are thinking of repeating the experience with specific groups "..
