Alhaurín El Grande will have a park of 2,000m2 in the area of the School González Cantos.

The development of the EU 16 will allow the creation a new green zone, public amenities, as well as new connections between the adjacent streets.

The council of Alhaurin El Grande has approved in a plenary meeting a detailed study of UE-16 urbanistic sector that comprises the area around the school Salvador Gonzalez Cantos and which had been initially approved by the mayor. It must be pointed out that in this plenary meeting the opposition groups abstained with regard to this point of the agenda.

 It must be emphasized that it is about a new sector of 5,304 m2 of which 1,853 m2 will be devoted to a green zone and 163 m2 to public amenities so that the town hall will receive 2016 m2 by way of way transfer. The rest 3768 m2 will be destined to the building of 22 housing units.

According to the town councillor, Gregorio Guerra, with the development of this project, “New connections will be created in several streets (including Albaicin, Salvador Gonzalez, Lope De Vega and Luis Cernuda) and a better communication will be offered between all the streets of the zone”. The councillor also added that “With the approval of this detailed study, we put in motion a further development which had been stopped for a long time, and that actually the present project is being processed so it can proceed as soon as possible.

For his part the mayor of Alhaurin, Juan Martin, has indicated that “The green zones and amenities of this urbanization are placed near the school so that this zone will be provided with an important park of almost 2000 m2 next to the playgrounds of the education centre, being the only green zone in this area and constituting one more public space for the enjoyment of the residents”.
